FPS Social Integration, anti-Poverty Policy, Social Economy and Federal Urban Policy

Belgium takes over EU Council Presidency on 1 July 2010. Our country will be cooperating closely with Spain and Hungary. Spain is set to be the President during the first half of 2010, while the honour will go to Hungary during the first six months of 2011. Consequently, Belgium will be joining forces with these two countries to work out a joint programme to cover an 18-month period.

2010 will be the "European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion". The FPPS SI will lance at the end of 2009 a big scale campaign to emphasize the social caracter and effect of combating poverty together as well as to enforce the positive image of the Welfare Centers. More information will become available later.

The ESF is a means to create more and better jobs. The European Social Fund (ESF) is one of the EU's Structural Funds, set up to reduce differences in prosperity and living standards across EU Member States and regions, and therefore promoting economic and social cohesion. The ESF is devoted to promoting employment in the EU. It helps Member States make Europe's workforce and companies better equipped to face new, global challenges.

The European Fund for the Integration of Third country nationals is one of the four financial instruments of the general programme on "Solidarity and Management of Migration Flows" which encourages a fair share of responsibilities between Member States arising from the introduction of integrated management of the external borders and from the implementation of common policies on asylum and immigration.
