FPS Social Integration, anti-Poverty Policy, Social Economy and Federal Urban Policy
The Law on Social Integration strives for maximum integration and participation in society. The PSWC avails of powerful instruments to meet this goal, such as employment, but also of means to promote socio-cultural participation and to cross the digital divide.
Employment always means a fully fledged job to which all the rules of employment law apply, including those on wage protection.
Since 2003 the PSWCs avail of means to promote social participation and cultural and sportive development of their clients.
This measure aims to include the underprivileged in society via participation in culture, sports and youth work. Culture, youth work and sports can be a first step towards true involvement, towards active participation in society.
The PSWC's role herein is to identify target groups, to set priorities, to formulate projects and to bring participants in contact with possible providers. The PSWC has means to stimulate active or passive participation of the target group in certain activities or manifestations. These means can target individuals, such as a contribution in the costs of an admission ticket or membership fee, but there are collective means as well, for example the support of a manifestation that is not exclusively addressed at the target group.
